"The words that you speak with emotional conviction become the life you live - this is your heaven or this is your hell." - Anthony Robbins These words relate to the consistent theme of each Today's Thought and that is that we create our lives by what we think, speak and believe. If we see possibility, goodness and light as our world, we create our heaven on earth or we can take the opposite view and make our lives a living hell. The point is that we, ourselves, do create one or the other for ourselves. When I first got interested in meditation and the chakra world I was told this and I find that it has much good sence what do you think

We still have not found Madeleine![]() Help find Maddie
Mike's snippet from here and a snippet from there

*Madeleine: Madeleine was born in May 2003 - a long-awaited and very much longed for little girl. She lives in the village of Rothley in Leicester, with her mummy and daddy and little brother and sister, Sean and Amelia. Madeleine is a very happy little girl with an outgoing personality. She has always been a very popular little person, appealing to both children and adults alike with her funny and engaging chatter. She has many friends who obviously miss her dearly. Despite her young age, it often felt like Madeleine had been on this earth before! Like most girls her age, she likes dolls and dresses (and anything pink and sparkly) but with a definite taste for action-adventure too! She has an incredible amount of energy and even as a little baby, didn't seem to need much rest. She enjoys running and swimming and is an Everton fan like her mum and grandad. Madeleine has always been a wonderfully loving and caring big sister to Sean and Amelie. It was certainly not the quietest house on the planet with lots of giggling, singing and the inevitable odd bit of mischief! For Sean and Amelie, there is without doubt, a very important person missing in their life. Madeleine is a warm, life-enriching little person and will never fail we're sure, to bring joy into the life of anyone she may encounter. Bid To Find Madeleine Using Social Networking7:56pm UK, Tuesday November 03, 2009 Jo Couzens, Sky News Online Social networkers are being urged to get involved in a new online campaign to find Madeleine McCann by spreading a video appeal around the world. The missing girl's parents hope the film will eventually reach whoever is close to those responsible for her disappearance and convince them to come forward. And the officers behind the campaign say it will have a serious impact on anyone who may have been involved in the youngster's disappearance. The 60-second film can be viewed on the website of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (Ceop). The video is available in seven languages and shows two images of Madeleine based on how she might look today, aged six.
How Madeleine may look now Jim Gamble from London-based Ceop told Sky News: "We want to emotionally engage people. "We want them to understand the real emotion, the stickiness of all of this for people so that they link to it and connect with it. "Then we want this viral message that we have launched on the internet to reach out through the public to one individual. "To say to the person that's close to the individual who did this: 'We know you're keeping a secret. You've kept that secret for too long. "Two and a half years on you need to reflect on why you're keeping it. Turn that negative thing into a positive and do the right thing and come forward'."
Image of child heavily tanned as if she had been taken to a warm country Madeleine's father Gerry told Sky News he and wife Kate have never lost hope they will find their daughter alive, after she went missing in Portugal on May 3, 2007. He said the news that Jaycee Dugard had been reunited with her parents 18 years after her abduction in America at the age of 11 had given them "a lift". "There was a change in the general perception of the public who maybe thought that Madeleine would never be found or that she may be dead." Mr McCann said there has been a surge in people saying that perhaps Madeleine too can be found alive. The couple said they try to block thoughts of how and where their daughter may be being held. - Sky's Martin Brunt asks if the Portuguese police can be trusted. Kate McCann said: "I'm her mum, I think it would be impossible on occasion to not think about how she's being kept." Mr McCann said the most common question the pair get asked, after how they are, is what people can do to help. "Today we are asking people, this is a way of helping. Let's rattle the cage of the people who took her. Let's really get that person wrestling with their conscience. "It's not too late for that person to do the right thing." Of the new images of how his daughter may look now aged six, Mr McCann said: "That's not how we remember her," adding, "she is not a four-year-old girl anymore." Investigations Line +44 845 838 4699
Kate's message:It is only since Madeleine was taken from us, that Gerry and myself have become aware of just how many children go missing each year from all around the world. The scale of the problem is huge. In fact, it is terrifying. I have asked myself many times “why did I not know about this? Am I that naïve or is it the fact that the problem itself is not well publicised for whatever reason?” It is impossible to give a number for the amount of children that go missing but suffice to say it is hundreds of thousands. This includes ‘runaway’ children, parental/family abductions and ‘stranger’ abductions such as in Madeleine's case. The reason for the lack of precision with regards to number of cases, appears to be that there is as yet (in the UK and many countries throughout Europe at least), no standard method for collecting, recording and categorising data. Without this, it is not possible to implement strategies to tackle the problem - recover children and reunite them with their families as soon as possible. PACT (Parents and Abducted Children Together) is one of the organisations in the UK trying to propose/request such national policies be brought in to place by the Government. Surely our children deserve this? Mike’s Message I know that Madelein’s parents have put so much effort into the finding her what I would like to know why do our governments not do the same for all the missing people in this world as I am sure if they all got together we could improve so much on the rate of success we have at the moment and the money raised for the Madeleine fund is a drop in the ocean for the world to donate

11/1/2009 Im not pushing my HobbyI have been asked for a little info on Meditation ,Well first of all I have to say I am a novice at this and it's true to say the Chakra system is new to me as well so maybe I have looked as though I am well into doing these things so I should put this right now you can not expect to learn from me it is true I have done some reading on the subject and had a try at the chakra and the meditation and have had some good experiences from it including getting my blood pressure down being able to handle stress a little better that sort of thing but I have a long way to go before I can say I'm a good meditator . The chakra system is another hobby of mine and i am looking into it with a great deal of interest and with the energy fields in the human body .your aura a simple test for you to see your own aura is put your hands up in the air while in the dark have some light showing from say the window and you will see a very faint haze around your hands we all have one its not spooky its energy from our body even plants have them . The spirit world well I have no experience as of yet I do find some reading I have had interesting its not just ghosties and such channelling guides Yes I suppose to channel a guide them person would not be from our life but from another place from what I have read some have lived here on earth some have never been on earth sounds wild yes but can you prove to me they do not exist nor can I that they do I guess that's what makes these things interesting for me it allows me to escape from life as I have experienced it going barmy well is it me or you that's barmy lol so another topic for me to enjoy . I have decided to put a few pages on here for anyone who may like to read but really the internet is probably full of this sort of stuff as this is where I found most of mine however I have decided to make like a diary if you like and to start it off i am doing a couple of pages with Meditation and then the energy field and then the human Chakra so if you do fancy it here it will be as I said most of this will be from bits I have picked up from around the net and from books and some experiences of my own. I will probably add any experiences i do have to another page and just carry it on what i will be doing is adding the pages to the right side of my page as a little box with the links on so as you can always go to whatever page that you wanted to read a short cut as the blog will eventually go from view as time goes on so just a click and you will be with the page of your choice it will be a bookmark for me to if you think of it this way a diary of what i have picked up and any experiences on the way .so again for a few wks you will see three pages or four then you will see the links to the right of my blog with the links going to each page as and when it has disappeared will depend on how many pages from then that I have put . Mike's Spiritual guide to Your Chakras THE CHAKRA SYSTEM
*
In healing, the chakras of the patient are often of central importance to the healer as he or she works. Because the chakras are so important, and because in this Chios level you will begin to channel energy into them and sense the energy field above them, it is beneficial to gain some understanding of them. There are seven major chakras in the human body, and also numerous less-important minor ones. The chakras are energy centers, points of energy flow, and act as energy junctions in the body. They are energy processing centers, and the chakra system (comprised of the seven major chakras) is our energetic connection to the realm of pure consciousness and our spiritual essence. The energetic operations in them are what make every aspect of our bodily, emotional, mental and spiritual life possible. Each of the seven major chakras, or primary energy centers, has its own character and corresponds to a unique aspect of our being. They are patterns of energy, and are shaped something like funnels or whirlpools of energy. Their vortices lie inside the body, along the spinal cord (which corresponds to a central energy channel) and up into the head (see diagram).
Because the chakra system is the central processing center for every aspect of our being, blockage or other energetic dysfunction in the chakras usually gives rise to disorders in the body, mind or spirit. A defect in the energy flow through any given chakra will result in a defect in the energy provided to certain portions of the physical body, as well as an impairment in the entire energy field’s ability to process energy—affecting all levels of the being. This is because the energy field is a holistic entity; every part of it affects every other part. The chakras do not actually exist as “objects” in the physical body (they are actually energy patterns) but there are certain specific locations on the body, where you will place your hands, that correspond to the chakras, five along the spine, and two on the head. Each chakra also has a certain true color of the visible light spectrum associated with it—the intrinsic color of the chakra. Because the chakras are spiritual entities, it is impossible to convey a complete explanation of the nature of each chakra in words alone, but the table below will provide an introduction to the nature of each. Number Name/Location Character True Color 7 Crown of Head Totality of Beingness. Spiritual Perfection. Violet 6 Forehead (3rd Eye) Visualization. Psychic Sight. Indigo 5 Pit of Throat Communication. Creative Expression. Blue 4 Heart Universal Love. Compassion. Empathy. Green 3 Solar Plexus Creation of Self. Perception and Projection of Self. Yellow 2 Sacral (Pubic) Desire, Including Sexual Energy. Orange 1 Base of Spine Physical Vitality. Survival. Red Each of the seven chakras has both a front (usually dominant) component, and a rear (usually less dominant) component, which are intimately related. The seventh and first chakras, though, are usually represented and thought of as having only the one dominant component, as it is far, far more significant than the weaker component in these two chakras. The seventh chakra extends vertically upwards above the head. The first chakra extends forwards from the base of the spine, and downwards, at roughly a 45 degree angle, although its exact position will vary from person to person. The other five chakras, spaced between the first and seventh, have at their appropriate locations a front component extending out the front of the body and a rear component extending out the rear of the body. During energy channeling, the energy field healer receives the energy through his or her own chakra system, from all around, and from the Earth, too, which also acts as a conductor. The energy circulates in the entire universe, and conducts through the Earth, and also through the atmosphere, and into the healer’s body. When you “call in” the energy, you are receiving a greater quantity of it, so that you may pass it on, through your hands, into your patient. You receive the extra energy at first primarily through your first and seventh chakras, but later, with practice, through all your chakras equally. Aside from the entry of energy into the body through the seven major chakras, there is also an upward flow of energy in the body, from the lower to higher energy centers. The lower chakras are simpler-functioning, but as one ascends upwards there is a greater degree of sophisticated and more spiritual functioning, intimately related to the life experience and state of being of the individual. The seven chakras, with the correspondences that exist between them and different aspects of our being and the interrelationships between them, are of great importance to the energy field healer. It is important to know, however, that an “intellectual” understanding of the chakra system is not a useful adjunct to healing work. The true energy field healer will learn to expand his or her consciousness and experience each of the chakras as a realm of being. As you begin to sense the chakras, as you practice the passing of hands and energy channeling, you may wish to begin to allow some sense of the unique nature of each chakra form in your awareness. You may also begin to gain some insight into the condition of each chakra in your patients, as well. In later Chios healing levels, you will learn more advanced methods for expanding your awareness in order to sense the condition of, and treat, the chakra system of your patients.
CHAKRA SELF-HEALING The healer’s ability to sense the nature and function of the chakras, and the ability to obtain psychic information and guidance regarding conditions in them and how these conditions correlate with personal issues and life experiences, may used for the healer’s own growth: You may practice these techniques for the purpose of learning your own chakra system and the issues and experiences which compose your own personality. You can also charge and balance your own chakras:
Add to your knowledge of your chakras by performing an intuitive reading on your own chakra system—visualizing the body profile with the chakra colors in a rainbow above, as you do on your patients. Do you have chakras which are undercharged or impure? Do you have a pattern of imbalance in your chakra system? Working from a deep sense of each chakra, allow yourself to gain a pure sense of each chakra’s place in your life and awareness, and also a sense of which core issues in you may relate to energetic defects you may have detected in it. Do not struggle to gain this information, but merely let it come—in pictures, feelings, sounds or in whatever other way. Allow yourself to become aware of psychic information and guidance which will gently bring you to a higher state of awareness of your own psychology, life experience and physical, emotional, mental and spiritual state of being. In a state of quietness, open yourself to your chakras and the information you receive. This is also like a meditation. Perform, now, a distance healing on your chakras, without using your hands, to charge and balance them. Charge whichever of your chakras require it, using a visualization of the appropriate symbol in color and also a cloud of that color around the chakra. Rebalance your chakra system by raising or lowering the activity of chakras which require it, using the symbol related to the chakra in the necessary color(s) and a cloud of that color around the chakra. Charging and balancing your own chakras will help you in your life and growth, and will also give you greater effectiveness in your healing work. Unblocking and radiatory treatment of your chakras is best done for you by another healer—these techniques do not lend well to self-treatment.
BODY ENERGIES EXERCISE The self-knowledge of the healer is assisted in another way—through the learning of the body energies. In the process of self-knowledge, it is beneficial to learn the nature of the energies of the body, for this learning will assist in learning the energies and nature of the spirit. There is an exercise you may do that may assist in this, and will also add to your energy-directing abilities, which will contribute to your healing ability and your ability to effectively perform the Chios Healing Attunements:
This exercise can be continued for between 3 and 15 minutes, using all different locations in your body as locations for the energy, using a localized flow to specific body points, and holding the energy there, being aware all the while of the difference between where the energy is and where it is not present. This exercise will bring a greater awareness of the nature of the energy, from its ground in the body to its spiritual essence, and will open you to know it and become transparent to it. It is also good preparation for learning to direct the energy in your patients, which is used in treatment of some diseases, and in practicing the attunement procedures.
Congratulations on your decision to begin a study of energy field healing. Chios Level I is an introduction to this fascinating and important healing art. You will begin by learning to work with the energy. Every living thing that exists is permeated by a universal energy that connects and nourishes all life. This energy has been called by many different names, such as prana and chi. An “invisible” energy field composed of this life energy surrounds each human being. It is this energy field around each person which integrally supports the life process in all its aspects—the material operations of the physical body, the functions of the emotions and mind, and even the spiritual life. The energy in this field is not lifeless or inert—it is active and intelligent. It is conscious energy, a manifestation of the universal consciousness that is the source of each of us and the entire universe. The energy is one of the important expressions of the realm of pure consciousness, the spiritual source of life, in the manifested physical world. The energy field acts as a bridge, a connection, between the realm of pure spirit and the manifested world. It is both an indicator and a regulator of the manner in which the life force and higher potentials that exist within this higher realm are expressed in worldly life. If this energy field is clear, healthy and free from defects, the living person will likewise exhibit good health, in all its physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects. Innate health and harmony in body and mind, spiritual awareness and higher human potentials will all manifest in the person and in their life. Many times, however, dysfunctional energetic patterns are present in the energy field. When the flow of energy within this energy field becomes weak, impure, unbalanced or blocked, the energetic defects prevent the pure connection to the higher spiritual reality—the realm of pure consciousness and the true self of the person. This prevents the full and healthy expression of the living potential of the whole person and removes the natural condition of energetic health that is a requirement for physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. The ultimate cause is usually traumatic experiences in the past (often including past lives) which have fragmented the psyche, allowed invasion of impure energies, and established faulty energy patterns into the functioning of the energy field. These three effects—personality fragmentation, invasion by unhealthy psychic energies and fundamental energetic defects in the aura and chakra system—usually occur together. These dysfunctional patterns in body, mind and spirit will vary from person to person, as each person is unique, but they eventually lead to problems in the worldly life. They will inhibit, in various ways particular to each person, the healthful and balanced functioning of body, mind and spirit which would otherwise be possible. Diseases or afflictions of a physical, emotional or mental nature often eventually become manifest. Energy field healing is the art of correcting energetic defects in the energy field. In energy field healing, the healer seeks to restore the flow of the energy to its strong, natural and healthy state and correct any defects that are present, thereby helping to restore and maintain health to the body, emotions, mind and spirit—to all levels of the being. The healer, in doing this, treats what may be the ultimate cause of disease. By treating ill conditions in the energy field, the healer may work to assist in the resolution of a disease condition which has already manifested in the physical body, or in the mental and emotional life of the patient. The activities of the healer may also serve to prevent future disease, by treating faulty energetic conditions in the patient’s energy field which might otherwise result in illness in the future, should they remain untreated. Additionally, the activities of the healer are beneficial simply because they enhance the entire life process of the patient, even if disease is not present, enhancing functioning of body, mind and spirit and enabling the patient to live a healthier, more balanced and fulfilling life. As an energy field healing treatment is performed, the healer conducts an extra measure of the universal life energy into the patient. This serves to supplement and enhance the overall health of the energy field. The healer also expands his or her awareness for the purpose of gaining information regarding the condition of the energy field of the patient—to detect energetic anomalies of various kinds. The healer then treats these faulty conditions by using various special techniques, to work with the field in various ways to correct the undesirable conditions that may be present. A skilled healer is therefore capable of supplementing and enhancing the health of the vital energetic life processes of the patient, upon which physical, emotional and mental health depend. Instrumental in the healer’s art is the acquisition of expanded awareness, for it is the healer’s expanded awareness that makes it possible for the healer to become fully aware of the condition of the energy field, and to acquire and use the various abilities and techniques that are useful in healing. To do this, the healer heals not from any specific state of mind, but from a wider realm of awareness—from the whole being. As afflictions of body, mind and spirit begin in the wider realm of consciousness—the whole being—so does the healer heal from that level. The healing provided is not merely a physical “curing,” but an emotional, mental and spiritual healing to the very core of the person’s being The first step in becoming an energy field healer is learning to channel the energy in a simple way by using your hands. You will acquire the ability to conduct this energy into your patient for the purpose of supplementing and enhancing your patient’s life processes, at all levels. You will benefit by receiving the first Chios energy attunement, a simple, safe procedure that will greatly assist you in opening the ability to channel this healing energy through your hands. You will then become able to draw a greater amount of this energy into your energy field, transfer it through your hands and into your patient during each healing treatment. To channel this universal energy in this way is a natural human ability that already resides within you, and yet the first-level attunement you receive will greatly accelerate and potentiate this energy-channeling ability, so that you may begin to practice this ability much more easily. You will also learn, in this first level, a simple technique that will enable you to begin to sense the energy field around your patient, through the use of your hands. The attunement given to you will also assist you in becoming more sensitive to the life energy, as it flows in and around the human body. You will acquire the ability to sense areas in your patient’s energy field that harbor energy defects. As you begin your practice of channeling energy into your patient, the patient’s energy field will use the energy you conduct in the way that is most needed. As you grow in your healing abilities, you will become increasingly more able to sense the energy, more aware of areas of disturbance or disease in your patient’s energy field, and more able to use the energy in various ways to benefit your patient. As your awareness and abilities increase, you will become a progressively more conscious participant in the healing taking place, and you will, should you continue your study of Chios energy field healing, learn some extremely powerful and exciting tools to effectively sense and heal the human energy field. It is important, during the learning process, that you practice your healing skills regularly. The healing ability grows with practice, and practice is essential to proper learning as well. It is through practice that you will experience, feel and form questions on the healing treatment methods. After studying the basic techniques given in this level, practice giving healing treatments, using the treatment steps given under “Treatment Outline.” Should you have questions or need assistance, Support is available through this website.
Welcome to Chios Healing Level II. This level will assist you in greatly adding to your healing power and repertoire of healing techniques. As you begin your study of this level, you will benefit by receiving the second Chios energy attunement. This attunement is significantly more powerful than the attunement you received in the first level. It will assist you in channeling much larger amounts of healing energy, and will make your hands much more sensitive to energy flows in the human energy field as you practice the passing-of-hands. It will additionally enable you to effectively perform the many healing techniques that you will learn in this course. Because it is a strong attunement, it is important that you be as rested and pure as possible, in both body and mind, on the day the attunement is given, so that you may receive its full benefits. The Importance of Holistic Awareness and Action in Healing: In your study of Chios Level I, you began to work with the energy—you began to channel energy and learn to sense the human energy field with your hands. As you know, the energy field is composed of the aura and the chakras, and it is energetic defects within them that result in afflictions and illness in body, mind and spirit. In this level, you will expand your ability to sense the condition of your patient’s aura and chakras, by learning to receive psychic information and guidance. You will also begin to learn to see the aura and the chakra colors for yourself. You will learn to channel much greater amounts of healing energy which, in combination with the healing techniques you will learn, will increase your ability to heal energetic defects in the aura and chakra system. You will also begin to use color and light in your healing work, in addition to the energy. The human energy field is composed of the aura and the chakra system. The aura exists in seven layers or bodies, beginning with the etheric body. Each layer of aura relates to its corresponding chakra—from 1st to 7th. The etheric body, or 1st layer of aura, is an energy body which closely follows the outlines of the physical body, and which consists of the energetic operations that support the biological and chemical processes that operate within the physical body. You have begun to sense the energy of this etheric body through your practice of the passing-of-hands, and have also probably begun to sense energetic defects within it. You will now begin to work towards acquiring the ability to sense and view this 1st layer, and eventually the higher layers of aura, as well. The emotional body, or 2nd layer of aura, and the mental body, or 3rd layer of aura, are intimately connected to the emotional life and mental life, respectively. During your practice of this level, it is very possible that you will begin to gain information on phenomena in these higher layers of aura, and perhaps even begin to see them. They will begin to become involved in your sensing and your healing techniques. These layers of aura, as well as the remaining higher ones, interpenetrate and form a seven-layered higher energy field around the physical body, an energy field that supports all the various facets of our worldly life and which is a direct indicator of our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual state of being. Each layer of this energy field works upon a successively higher level of “vibration,” and although these successively more refined levels become increasingly difficult to sense, they bear a vital relationship to our innermost nature and life experience, at all levels. Energetic defects within the energy field of the patient can profoundly influence the physical, emotional and mental life, sometimes resulting in disease. In this course you will practice techniques that allow you to sense and then correct these defects, particularly on the lower layers of aura. In Chios Level III you will learn further techniques to sense and see the higher aura layers. There are seven major chakras in the chakra system, each of which corresponds to a different aspect of our being and which bears relationship to its corresponding layer of aura. The 1st chakra, for example, is a regulator of physical vitality and physical life, and bears a close relationship to the first layer of aura—the etheric body—which is the energetic pattern for the operation for the physical body. As one proceeds from the 1st chakra (located near the base of the spine) to the 7th chakra (located at the crown of the head), each chakra displays a successively more complex and more spiritual mode of functioning, although each relates to the others and functions as a part of the chakra system. These chakras also each have a characteristic color, from red (1st chakra) to violet (7th chakra). Energetic defects in the operation of the chakras are common in most human beings, and often also accompany many forms of illness. You will, in this level, begin sensing and treating simple energetic defects in the chakras. In Chios Level III, some very advanced methods of chakra healing are explored. It is important to know, however, as you practice all the techniques in this level (and those in Chios Level III), that it is the holistic awareness and action of the healer that makes effective perception and effective healing treatment possible. All of these parts of the human energy field interrelate in their operation, and so you must not limit your awareness, as you work, but must remain open to the entire condition of your patient, and to the entirety of whatever holistic healing is necessary and is taking place, instead of remaining too focused on any particular part of the energy field or any particular energetic phenomenon within it. The various parts of the energy field—the chakras, and the layers of aura and the phenomena within them—are not to be thought of as separate entities, but as parts of a greater whole that work together. Each affects all the others, and all work, in a holistic way, to make up the health and state of being of the individual. For example, in addition to the important relationship between each chakra and its corresponding layer of aura, there are energetic relationships that exist between the chakras in the chakra system, and between each layer of aura and the others. The content and activities of the 3rd layer of aura, for example, are often tied to those of the 2nd layer, and faulty conditions reflected in both these layers of aura often “filter down” into the etheric body and eventually result in physical disease. Of course, conditions in one or more of the chakras are often intimately involved. Should you find yourself treating a condition in this first layer of aura, you must not limit your awareness to this “isolated” energetic condition you are treating, but must remain open, allowing impressions of conditions on the layers of the patient’s aura, the state of the patient’s chakras, and correlating conditions in the psychology and life experience of your patient to form in your mind, including impressions on the proper course of treatment. Life, and the energy field of living things, cannot be fully understood intellectually, nor purely on the basis of the operation of “parts,” but on a holistic perception of the whole. The body, the emotions, the mind and the spirit of the patient interrelate, always, to create the state of holistic health of the individual. The way that a healer cultivates this expanded holistic awareness is through openness. Of all the qualities that the energy healer must cultivate in order to heal effectively, perhaps openness is the most important. The healer must remain open to the entirety of the patient’s condition and to whatever information and guidance may assist in treatment, even while treating one particular area in the patient’s energy field. If the awareness and action of the healer are limited to one part of the energy field, other important aspects of the patient’s condition may remain unknown and untreated. An effective healing treatment is not a preprogrammed and predetermined process, but a process whereby a complete understanding and awareness of the patient’s condition emerges in the whole being of the healer during treatment, and wherein the healer allows an organic and complete treatment of the patient to unfold as he or she works. This is true, even though the healer uses specific perceptual and healing techniques. In this level you will study many new techniques, but is important to understand that all of these healing techniques are not different from yourself. They are not separate tools that exist apart from your use of them, but must be used in a holistic way. As you have probably begun to experience in your healing work, there is, ideally, a holistic awareness of the unity between yourself, the energy field of your patient and the healing energy itself, as healing is performed. You must come to a similar state of unity with each of these perceptual and energetic healing techniques that you will learn in this course. With each healing tool, you must come to experience yourself, the energy field of your patient, and the healing technique as all one. Your primary goal, as healer, is not to become preoccupied with any particular technique, but with the overall expansion of awareness and becoming a pure channel to the healing power. This is what provides you the ability to provide genuine spiritual healing (holistic healing) to your patient. True healing work begins and ends in this awareness, and not in technique alone. Effective practice of the art of energy field healing requires this unity in the perceptions and actions of the healer. This is true because the healer is a channel through which the knowledge contained in the field of consciousness is brought to the healer to assist the healing effort, as well as through which the healing power implicit in the field of pure consciousness is channeled, in certain ways, so as to effect healing in the patient. Whatever perceptual abilities you acquire are based upon your connection to this larger realm of awareness, and whatever healing power you are able to exercise likewise comes from this higher realm of pure being, also. To get the full knowledge and guidance available from this realm, and to most fully access the healing power that is available to you, you must maintain this holistic awareness—this unity between yourself, your patient, and whatever healing activities in which you engage during treatment. It is the realm of pure being, a higher realm of awareness, that connects the healer, the person being healed, and the manner and methods of the healing work. As you master the specific techniques in this level, seek also to elevate your awareness further into this higher realm. As you heal, this higher awareness must begin to be your guide, and not any specific guidelines or techniques. All of the instruction in this level and in all other Chios levels is not intended merely to give you specific tools and techniques, but especially to assist you in contacting and working with a higher realm of awareness—to assist you in discovering and developing the inner conscious abilities you already have. Always seek to maintain a holistic awareness of yourself, your patient and the realm of pure awareness from which the knowledge and power that effect the healing spring. The art of energy field healing is much more than the sum of the many techniques the healer uses; it is contained, and is a holistic expression, of this higher realm of consciousness.
Healing level 3 INTRODUCTION Welcome to the Chios Healing Level III (Chios Master Teacher). This level contains some very powerful and advanced techniques in energy healing. As you begin your study of this level, you will benefit by receiving the third Chios energy attunement. Because this is the strongest attunement of all, it is of great importance that you be as pure and well rested as possible, in both body and mind, on the day of this attunement, so that you will receive the full benefits and will not experience any unnecessary side effects. This third attunement elevates your energy channeling and energy sensing abilities to a very high level. It also accomplishes one other purpose: it gives you the inner ability to attune others. As a result of the attunement, and your study of the Chios attunement procedures (for in-person or distance attunements), you will be able to perform the attunement procedures used in the Chios system—the procedures you yourself have received and which open up the energy, color and light channeling ability of the healer. You will be able to attune and teach your own healing students. After this third attunement, however, there is a necessary 30-day settling period to allow your energy system to settle, after which you can begin to attune others. One highly recommended adjunct to this third level course is the practice of the Chios meditation technique. It assists you in learning to contact the state of pure consciousness—the source of all your healing ability—and is also vital to your acquisition of the visualization, perceptual, intuitive and other abilities that are so beneficial for your successful practice of the powerful aura and chakra healingtechniques that you will learn in this level. It is impossible to overemphasize the benefits to you and your healing work that regular practice of this meditation will bring. That is why it is provided as part of the Chios system. The Master Healer as a Channel For Pure Consciousness: In the two previous levels you have learned to sense and conduct the energy, and have also perhaps begun to sense color and use light as you heal. You have learned to sense the aura in various ways, and have also begun to work with the chakras. In all your healing work you have striven for a unity—for a holistic perception and action—as you work with the energy field using the various perceptual and healing tools you have studied thus far. As you know, every part of the human energy field, as well as energy, color, light and every healing tool you use them with, are part of a greater whole—a whole that includes your entire being and the entire being of your patient. Healing takes place, and takes its cue, from this wider realm of pure consciousness. In this level you will work extensively with the chakra system and the higher layers of aura, using a new series of powerful techniques. The chakra system is of tremendous importance to the entire state of being of each individual—it is the connection between the individual and the realm of pure being, the place of translation between the spiritual realm and the manifested world, where the powers and essence of spirit become available and have relationship with the worldly life. The chakras act as a “rainbow bridge,” as a series of receptors and transmutors of incoming energy/consciousness from the realm of pure being, each with its own color and its own domain of influence over the entire life process. They are not “objects,” or things that can be understood through the use of set ideas, but are each a way things work and a realm of being, and yet they all relate to each other, and are all one. The higher layers of aura relate to the chakras—each layer of aura corresponds to a chakra, and like each chakra is a realm of being, a realm of existence with its own nature and function within the overall being of the individual. The condition of the chakras correlates to phenomena in the layers of aura, and both together—the energy field as a holistic entity in which each part actually affects and relates to all the others—reflects the entire relationship of the individual to the greater reality. The operation of the chakras and the layers of aura also affects the life experience of each individual—from the biochemical operations within the physical body to the spiritual perceptions that are possible, and everything in between. The field of pure consciousness is translated and brought into manifestation through this energy field, to support and govern the entire life process, at all levels. The new healing tools you will learn in this level—powerful tools that can affect and enhance the operation of the chakra system and the higher layers of aura in extraordinary ways—will give you the ability to heal defects within this energy field of your patient. You will thereby not only treat the ultimate causes of whatever disease or affliction your patient may have, but also profoundly affect both your patient’s perception and potential life experience, as a result of your patient acquiring a purer connection to the essence of him or herself and to the entire creation. Your treatment of your patient, using these powerful aura and chakra healing techniques, may thereby also enhance your patient’s entire life process, on all levels, and assist in accelerating your patient’s spiritual evolution. The reason that you will be able to effect such beneficial changes in the patient is that the chakra system, in conjunction with its relationship to the layers of aura, is a channel to the realm of pure consciousness—the realm of pure being in which not merely the ideal health, but also the infinite awareness and infinite higher potentials in each and every person reside. By healing defects in the energy field of your patient, you provide the opportunity for the patient to connect to this greater reality—to break free of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual limitations which might otherwise remain. Your own awareness and connection to pure consciousness is the tool you will use to effect these changes. As you know, it is your own openness, conscious awareness and development in consciousness that makes it possible for you to draw upon the knowledge and power contained in this field of pure consciousness, for the purpose of healing your patient. The various ways that you seek to heal your patient, as you draw upon this knowledge and power, work as an effect upon the consciousness of the patient—the healer heals and the patient receives healing, each with their entire being. Your work as a healer, therefore, is as a channel from the realm of pure consciousness and also to the realm of pure consciousness. The purpose of your healing work is to offer the opportunity for the patient to heal and advance his or her spiritual growth, and also for you experience the opportunity to come into greater contact with, and act as a channel for, this realm. Therefore, you also have the opportunity to likewise grow—the effect being an acceleration of personal evolution for all concerned. Chios Level III will assist you greatly in this process and will quickly accelerate you toward becoming a master healer. As you become a master healer, you will seek to work directly with this realm of pure consciousness, not only in your patient, but also in yourself—the realm from which you draw your healing knowledge, the healing power, and the guidance from which you take your cue (and your awareness) as you heal. In your healing work, you will be a vehicle for this higher consciousness, as it works through you to enhance your patient’s connection to this universal reality. The master healer is a tool, a vehicle through which consciousness operates on itself, in certain ways, so as to effect healing and changes in consciousness in the patient. Each perception and action, on the part of the healer, as well as the healer’s use of each healing tool, also has this quality. You will come to realize that your role as a healer also facilitates your own growth process, and that your healing ability is dependent upon this growth. You will realize that you, your patient and your healing activities are all aspects of a unitary life process in which you are immersed. Your practice of the techniques you will learn in this course will therefore have great power to effect changes in consciousness in your healing patients, and you will also find that your learning and use of them will effect changes of consciousness in yourself. In order to come into harmony with this true nature of healing work, you should recognize that you have this role of channel, and along with it certain responsibilities, as you heal. You should approach each healing treatment purely, free of all ego biases and in the expanded state of awareness you have begun to cultivate in yourself. In order to heal effectively using these tools, you must set your ego aside while healing. You should therefore heal in whatever way is best for your patient, according to the information coming from your own higher awareness, from your spirit guide or from the guide of your patient. All healing is ultimately performed by spirit, by this level of pure being, using the healer as a channel. It is important to realize that as a healer you must be a pure channel to this level of pure being as you work. You should allow yourself to be guided, in your work, instead of being limited by your own mental ideas or preconceptions. The healer is an artist, not a mere technician. Begin to break free of all standardized treatment orders, pre-conceived content of healing treatments, and instead use all your tools, all your knowledge, and the entire power and perception of your consciousness to create the work of art that is each individual healing session. Although this third level contains many useful tools, and a general conceptual framework for their use, you must cut your own path and not be afraid to individualize your treatments as your individual patients require. It is inevitable, also, that you will encounter many situations not specifically described in the Chios healing levels, sometimes with patients who are seriously ill. You must therefore use your own judgment, your expanded consciousness and your ability to assess each unique patient as your ultimate authority in treatment. You must master all the healing tools given you, but must then move beyond all rules, to a wider realm—a realm in which your unitary conscious perception and action exist as a pure expression of the healing power of spirit and pure being. This is the process of becoming a master healer. Attaining enlightenment Attaining enlightenment is the knowing that you are complete. It's a feeling and recognition that to desire something is to disconnect from everything. Expect nothing and you will have everything as you stay connected to the source of your being. Flow with your truth and you will experience the joy of limitless creation beyond comprehension.

Angie Buxton is the only spiritual healer working within the NHS. She tells Julia Stuart how her own experiences of illness and loss led the way to her new career
Like most people who come across healers, Gary Shadbolt was sceptical. But when he was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma in April this year there was one thing that persuaded the 44-year-old IT worker to give it a go - the sessions were being offered on his ward at University College Hospital, London. Like most people who come across healers, Gary Shadbolt was sceptical. But when he was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma in April this year there was one thing that persuaded the 44-year-old IT worker to give it a go - the sessions were being offered on his ward at University College Hospital, London. Angie Buxton is the only paid healer within the NHS. She works three days a week at UCH's haematology unit, channelling what she describes as "healing energy" into willing patients via her hands, which she places both on and off the body. The process has nothing to do with religion. The 30-minute sessions take place either in the patient's room or in a small, tranquil treatment room, painted pink and smelling of lavender. "Many patients have used healing to relieve side effects, alleviate pain and help with depression and stress, all of which can create a more positive attitude," says her leaflet, which persuaded Gary to try the complementary therapy. "It has been well documented that a positive attitude can greatly enhance your quality of life. This can be very difficult for patients to achieve in the hospital and healing will often help to create it naturally." Angie knows how much effort it takes to keep positive, having lost both her mother and younger son to illness. In 1988 her mother was diagnosed with inoperable ovarian cancer. It was while she was at the Bristol Cancer Centre, which specialises in complementary treatments, that Angie first came across healing. "I was sitting in the room while my mother was having healing and my hands got really hot and I felt flushed, and the lady who was giving the treatment said it was a sure sign that I could channel energy. I now know that everybody can channel energy," says Angie, 47. After her mother's death eight months later Angie, who worked as as an airport duty manager before having two children, tooka number of courses run by the National Federation of Spiritual Healers. She also trained as a reiki master (reiki is an ancient Japanese philosophy of hands-on healing). In 1995, her seven-year-old son, Sam, was diagnosed with leukaemia. "It seemed to me that everything I had learnt and played around with suddenly had a purpose after the initial shock had worn off," says Angie, who gave him healing every day at Great Ormond Street Hospital. "His journey was just amazing compared to that of his peers. His hair fell out, but he didn't have side effects, apart from fevers, but they didn't keep him in bed. He could have had any life-threatening disease." But Sam's diagnosis was very poor. "I and my then-husband were told that he would not respond to chemotherapy and would probably pass over in three or four months." Instead, with further conventional treatment that Angie insisted upon, as well as ongoing healing, he lived until he was 10. A year after his death, Angie approached the haematology unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital offering her services as a healer, in the hope of being able to help other children. "The doctors there were all very receptive, because they remembered Sam and how well he had done, but they didn't want to offer it to their patients," she says. She then approached the haematology department at University College Hospital, and was told they couldn't afford to pay her. "I said I don't want to be paid yet, give me an opportunity to prove a need, and if I can then you can pay me." She was given one day a week, and after a month of treating patients and staff, the feedback was so positive that the unit decided to employ her. That was four years ago. She now works three days a week and manages a team of two therapists who practise both aromatherapy and reflexology, a part-time counsellor and a hypnotherapist. Stephen Rowley, now a senior nurse in UCL's haematology unit, looked after Sam when he was at Great Ormond Street: "Healing really seemed to make a difference to the way he coped. All things considered, in Sam's particular case, he coped well, for an unusually long time. "The reality of acute haematology is that a number of patients won't achieve a long-term cure. Many will, but some won't. That makes the journey or experience through treatment all the more important and, from a health-provider perspective, relevant to what we provide. The idea of having treatments such as aromatherapy in a leukemia unit is about helping patients cope by providing some positive experiences to balance the negative. Healing was taking the next step into this ethos - a relaxing physical experience, but also a hugely significant and profound psychological experience for some. "Many of the staff here now have seen the benefits of Angie's healing. Many have experienced it themselves. Whatever the mechanism is, it helps many patients cope with their treatment. That is for sure. That may be by helping patients to cope better with nausea or pain, or helping them cope with the roller-coaster of stresses and emotions that treatment entails. For patients for whom treatment options have run out, who are now facing death, healing seems to be a way to bridge the gap to a state of mind that helps them cope. And not in a desperate manner either, but often in a calm, rational and peaceful way." Gary had about a dozen sessions with Angie from April to August this year. "It just seemed to relax me, which was very important," says Gary, who also had reflexology. "It helped me get through the week and took a lot of the stress away. It's very difficult to put your finger on whether it does you any good, but I got through the treatment with very few side effects. I see it as another tool in the armoury to get me through the disease. Angie said that various parts of my body were reacting because I was concerned about my wife and how she was coping. Your left leg, apparently, is connected with emotions and family, and I did notice sometimes during the treatment that my left leg shuddered and my hands would rise off the bed." Angie says that a patient's body may jerk as the energy moves through his or her pain. "I work on the philosophy that everybody is made up of vibrating energy, and if there is a blockage there then the energy kicks against it and makes it move. Patients often feel very light and see colours if they've got their eyes shut. Some people, if they're close to death, will have an out-of-body experience." Jilma Defreitas, 49, a patient with sickle cell anaemia who has been having sessions with Angie for almost three years, finds healing gives her a break from pain. "At first I was sceptical, but it's brilliant," she says. "It's another dimension. You can almost fall asleep, and with sickle cell you're in pain most nights. After I've had a session I feel as though I have had a good sleep. I feel refreshed. For 25 minutes you are somewhere else and it's a pleasant feeling." There have also been a lot of sceptics among staff. Lucy Curry, a nurse on the ward, was one of them, but changed her mind following a treatment. "It's like sunbathing for four hours," she says. "You get a lovely, glowing feeling and you're instantly relaxed." Isobel Salisbury, a receptionist on the unit, has found the therapy profoundly helpful. "I had a lot of personal problems from my past haunting me," she says. "While I was working on the ward I had some bad news, and was encouraged to try healing. It had a profound effect on me. It encouraged me to release a lot of pain and anger. It was a turning point in my life, and I've since moved on emotionally. Healing is very respected on this ward." When UCL Hospitals NHS Trust, which incorporates University College Hospital, opens its new hospital on Euston Road in 2005, Angie hopes to expand the service into oncology and paediatrics. She has also written a self-help book, The Healing Journey Home, which she hopes will be published soon. Angie is keen to point out that healers have no "unique powers". "We are ordinary people who have taken the time to look at complementary treatments," she says. "I believe that the destination is less important than the quality of the journey. Healing certainly enhanced the quality of Sam's journey." Every day, thousands more people all over the world hear about energy healing, a form of alternative medicine that involves tapping on certain parts of the body. For many people, the first time they hear about such a method of natural healing, they're naturally skeptical, if not outright disbelieving. It seems hard to believe that tapping on your hand, wrist, eyebrows, etc., could do much of anything for a person, let alone be a powerful way of healing addictions, phobias, and all kinds of other afflictions people suffer from. So what is the truth about energy healing? Does it really work? Well, according to most standard medical practitioners, and orthodox scientists, the answer is no, it doesn't. They say there's no scientific basis for such a therapy, and there's no proof that it actually does anything to relieve illness of any kind, whether mental, emotional, or physical. But is this the final word? No, because there is an increasing number of medical doctors, psychologists, and psychiatrists who believe that energy healing is a very effective, painless, risk free, and inexpensive form of healing. They say it works, and many of them not only say it, they incorporate it into their practices. To be sure, the first group greatly outnumbers the second group. But the second group is gaining converts all the time. And there is a lot of evidence to back them up. Hundreds of thousands of people all over the world have reported that they've experienced success with using EFT. Thousands of the reports are quite moving, with people telling stories about being delivered from a life long addiction or phobia that had made their life a living hell for decades. The mainstream medical authorities would write these stories off as nothing more than what's called "anecdotal evidence", and say that they don't prove anything. But the hundreds of thousands of people who've found help with energy healing would say that their stories aren't anecdotes, but proof of the life changing power of energy healing. If you ask any of them "energy healing-does it really work?", the answer would be a resounding yes. And more and more doctors are starting to agree with them. And one of these days the medical establishment will have to pay attention to these countless stories of people being healed with energy healing, and start taking it more seriously. It may take a while, but one of these days even they may admit that energy healing really works. Susan Hewitt is a sculptor and aspiring actress, and an enthusiastic proponent of EFT. There are now about five NHS homeopathic hospitals in the UK. * A survey of a random sample of UK family doctors carried out for the British Medical Association found that almost half the GPs who responded had arranged acupuncture for patients. Fifty-eight per cent had arranged some kind of CAM for patients, with osteopathy and homeopathy being next most popular. * The percentage of CAM funded by the NHS is difficult to judge. "It depends on where you are," says Professor Edzard Ernst, the head of the complementary medicine research unit at the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth. "Your GP or primary healthcare trust decides whether to offer CAM on the NHS." * The British Medical Association says that its approval is cautious: "CAM should be regulated to change the current unacceptable situation in which virtually anyone is free to practise, irrespective of training or experience." * The BMA always advises people to seek advice from their GP before embarking on a course of treatment. * Information on CAM and practitioners in your area is available from the British Complementary Medicine Association's website: www.bcma.co.uk. How Do You Channel Energy? The universal element of "ether" is the essence of life behind all plants, animals, and humans. It is also the most enigmatic and least understood element. Ether is omnipresent and available for all beings to harness. That's great you say…but then you ask, "How do I channel this energy?" Mike's Spiritual guide to MeditationFirst there is life
This physical experience is merely a road trip and at this point in time you are not aware that you exist in other worlds, dimensions, and galaxies. This is what awakening to "oneness" truly means. Oneness is a reconnection with everything, allowing you to be free from your finite identity and given the ability to flow into any experience that you choose to have. Let go of your attachments and judgments so you can live your life with a sense of joy and passion. The freedom to experience life with a sense of knowing and the absence of preconditioned inhibitions is the path towards peace, enlightenment, and an expanded consciousness. Upon your awakening you will realize that the term, "I Am" is the only phrase that's necessary to describe who you are. MeditationThe term meditation refers to a variety of techniques or practices intended to focus or control attention. Most of them are rooted in Eastern religious or spiritual traditions. These techniques have been used by many different cultures throughout the world for thousands of years. Today, many people use meditation outside of its traditional religious or cultural settings as a form of mind-body medicine. Many claims have been made about its value in promoting or improving health and wellness. Research on these claims, as well as on how meditation might work, is important for NCCAM and other components of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Published by AHRQ; Funded by NCCAMTo help clarify the state of existing knowledge, NCCAM funded a systematic review of available scientific literature on meditation practices for health. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) published this review, which was carried out by investigators at the University of Alberta's AHRQ Evidence-based Practice Center. The report highlights strengths and limitations in existing meditation research. While the study found some evidence suggesting that meditation is associated with potentially beneficial health effects, it also found that "firm conclusions on the effects of meditation practices in healthcare cannot be drawn based on the available evidence. Future research on meditation practices must be more rigorous in the design and execution of studies and in the analysis and reporting of results." Meditation
MEDITATION INSTRUCTIONS Morning is an ideal time to meditate, yet any convenient regular time will do. Meditation should be practiced daily, in a place that is completely private, free from undue noise, and free from interruptions of any kind. It should be practiced for a set number of minutes each day, as follows: First month of practice: 18 minutes per daily session Thereafter: 24 minutes per daily session
After becoming comfortable, close the eyes and relax, for a brief moment, seeking to calm your body and mind. Now allow the symbol of the Round Orange-Red Ball to come into your awareness. Do not try to re-create the Orange-Red Ball as if it were in front of you or near your forehead—do not “pretend to see” the Round Orange-Red Ball. Visualization is not the same as pretending to see. FEEL that you are the symbol. Do not “think about” the Round Orange-Red Ball. Visualization is not the same as thinking. Sense and become the Round Orange-Red Ball with your entire awareness. To begin to get a sense of the symbol, ask yourself: How does it feel to be that shape—to be the round surface of a ball? How does that color feel— how does it feel to be the color of orange-red? Sense the color and shape together. Become, with your consciousness, just this object. Be the Ball—visualize it with your entire being. If you sense and become in this way, you will begin to achieve a perfect completeness with the Round Orange-Red Ball. It will be as if it were there with you and in you, whole. Do not force it, simply allow yourself to become aware of it, and seek to effortlessly maintain your awareness upon the Round Orange-Red Ball. Thoughts of other things will probably arise in your mind, and when you become aware that your awareness has perhaps strayed to some mundane matter, instead of remaining on the Round Orange-Red Ball, simply notice that a thought or emotion has appeared, without placing any bias or judgment upon it. Do not pay any further attention to the thought or emotion, just allow it to drop away, and allow your sense of the Round Orange-Red Ball to re-emerge. It is important that you do not struggle to keep the mind on the Round Orange-Red Ball, but simply notice when a stray thought has appeared, drop the thought, and then allow your mind to come back gently and effortlessly to the Round Orange-Red Ball. Let the memorable feeling of peace and deep knowing that you will begin to acquire from maintaining your awareness upon the Round Orange-Red Ball inspire you to allow it to re-emerge effortlessly in your mind. Always remember that the Round Orange-Red Ball is YOU—it is not something “out there.” Have the entire sense of the Round Orange-Red Ball within your being. Be the Round Orange-Red Ball, and your practice will be perfect and effortless. Do not struggle in any way. You should feel tranquil and comfortable while meditating. Continue to meditate for the allotted time. You may slightly open your eyes to periodically check a clock or watch, to gauge the time while learning. After you have meditated for the allotted time, stop the practice and rest, lying down or sitting, for 3 or 4 minutes before opening the eyes and rising into activity. It is important to have this transition time, and not “shock” the awareness by returning to daily activity suddenly, after meditating. As you begin your practice of daily meditation, you should know that it is normal to have a period of days or weeks in which you will “get comfortable” with the practice, and perfect the technique of this method. At first, it is possible that this form of meditation will be unfamiliar to you, and you may also have a little difficulty in practicing it correctly. You will notice, however, that with a little practice it becomes easier and easier. After just a few weeks or a month, you will find it becoming “second nature” to you, and that you will naturally sink into a deep meditative state shortly after beginning your daily practice. Should you have any questions, or wish to be certain that you are practicing the Chios Meditation method correctly, be sure to seek Support through this website. It is possible that disturbances may occur as you learn. Bodily sensations, particularly distracting or even disconcerting thoughts or emotions, leaving the body, visions of spirits, or similar experiences may manifest. While to be expected occasionally, these do not matter and are not to be desired nor undesired. The ultimate goal of the meditation is to go beyond the surface disturbances. Merely “let them go,” and continue the practice without concern—just let whatever thoughts, emotions or experiences “come up” exist without either attempting to repress them or attach the awareness to them. Maintain your focus upon an effortless visualization of the Round Orange-Red Ball. It is not uncommon, for example, for recurrent thoughts or emotions to “come up” which bear relation to the inner issues of the meditator. If the meditator remains in the expanded spiritual awareness proper visualization practice upon this symbol will provide, these other thoughts and emotions which arise need not be identified with nor repressed, but simply noticed as the awareness is encouraged to effortlessly return to the Round Orange-Red Ball. The awareness will therefore not become “wrapped up” and identified in these thoughts, emotions and issues, and these distractions will eventually lose their influence upon the awareness. This is instrumental not merely for correct practice of the meditation but also to allow the meditation to properly contribute to the meditator’s healing and personal growth process. Leaving the body is also a common side-effect when meditation is begun, yet is similarly not to be encouraged nor given any concern. The meditator simply notices this has happened and then allows a grounded, in-the-body experience of the meditation to re-emerge. Whenever any such experiences arise, it is desirable to return to a grounded and in-the-body state. This form of meditation is intended to be a grounded practice. As you become more familiar with meditation, you will naturally remain in the body, and it is desirable to do so. As you advance in your practice and acquire the ability to quiet the mind and sink to deeper levels of awareness, your awareness of the symbol during meditation will become more subtle. There is not an overpowering awareness of, for example, the shape or color of the symbol. There is simply the very gentle, subtle awareness of the symbol, in its wholeness, from the finest level of awareness. As you work towards this finer level of meditation practice, you should just barely be able to tell that you are meditating on this particular symbol. As you practice, and begin to experience this finer awareness, you are penetrating nearer and nearer to the state of pure consciousness, and are progressing successfully towards the point where the highest benefits will accrue from your practice. Suggestions For Successful Practice: To reap the full benefits of Chios Meditation, the following are highly recommended:
INTRODUCTION Welcome to the study of Chios Meditation. Your decision to learn meditation is a good one. The method of meditation taught as part of the Chios system is an excellent all-around meditation method, and may provide many lifelong benefits to you. It is an important practice for the energy field healer as well, and leads to many of the abilities necessary in healing. In addition, after learning this basic meditation technique you can progress to the advanced exercises in the remainder of this site section—exercises in Self-Knowledge and Self-Realization that will accelerate your spiritual growth and foster the advanced abilities useful in healing work. Learning and practicing the Chios Meditation technique is the beginning and foundation of that beneficial process. Meditation is the practice of pure awareness. Underneath the manifold experiences, thoughts and actions in which we all engage in our day-to-day life lies a state of pure awareness—pure consciousness—which is the source of all that we are and all that we experience. This field of pure consciousness is also the source of many higher abilities in us which often lie unnoticed and undeveloped. Through the practice of meditation it is possible to come into greater conscious awareness of this deeper reality. Thereby, we do not merely come into greater awareness and understanding of the true nature of ourselves and everything we experience, but we also access many abilities within us that ordinarily lie hidden, through our gaining the ability to rest within and tap the latent powers contained in this state of pure consciousness. The goal of meditation is to cultivate a state of greater conscious connection to this larger spiritual reality, to the realm of pure consciousness, and meditation is perhaps the fundamental spiritual practice. The practice of meditation does not “take anything away” from our everyday life, but rather, enables us to become aware and act in a more truly complete manner—a manner which encompasses more of the greater reality in which we live. It also enables us, as we practice the art of energy field healing, to become more aware of the condition of the energy field of our patient, as well as more effective and powerful in our healing abilities, as we seek to perform healing treatment. Chios Meditation will give you the means to foster this deeper awareness and develop these higher conscious abilities, through your regular practice of a meditation technique that over time will allow you to develop and cultivate this awareness and these powers in yourself. It is important that you study the specific technique used in this meditation method (and in the advanced exercises that follow) carefully to be certain that, right from the beginning, you are performing the techniques correctly. Support is available, if you need it. This will ensure that as you progress you will have the potential to develop and enjoy the greater awareness and conscious abilities that lie within you, waiting to be discovered. THE PROCESS OF MEDITATION In everyday life, as each of us lives in our “normal” state of consciousness, our awareness is usually focused upon the particular thoughts, emotions or perceptions we experience on the surface level of reality, whether they are the experiences and perceptions we move through in our life in the outer world, or the thoughts and feelings that we have in our inner world. As we move through life, we perceive, think, act and feel with the assistance of our “thinking mind”—the active portion of our mind that deals with this surface level of reality, through the use of thoughts, feelings, interpretations of perceptions, and actions. Our awareness is usually identified with, preoccupied with and attached to, whichever of these particular activities we engage in through the use of this “thinking mind.” Although all these particular components of our life are important, when we remain identified with, and therefore limited to, these surface activities—these surface appearances of our deeper being—we are far less able to perceive and act from a more fundamental level of greater awareness. The tendency of our “thinking mind” to remain preoccupied with the particulars of life inhibits our ability to move to the level of pure consciousness that is actually the source of all these particular states of mind. In the practice of meditation we seek to free ourselves from this mental “chatter” in which our “thinking mind” engages, and instead seek connection to a deeper level of our being. We free ourselves from the surface level of the mind, and by doing so, we make it easier for ourselves to come into connection with a deeper spiritual reality. Meditation is a process by which we seek to re-condition our conscious awareness, so that we release our attachment to the surface level of reality and instead allow the awareness to gravitate towards a state of pure awareness, pure consciousness. As we meditate in the proper manner, the experience of pure awareness itself moves more to the forefront, instead of a primary identification with the highly active surface level of the mind. The proper practice of meditation therefore enables us to gain a better primary connection to the greater reality that is the real source of everything we experience. It is the primary connection to this greater reality that provides us the greater awareness, perceptual abilities and powers of consciousness that would ordinarily remain unavailable, should our awareness remain only in touch with the “surface level” of reality. Our awareness, freed from identification with the particular activities of the “thinking mind,” is able to expand into a greater awareness of reality. Our conscious awareness, free from the distractions and limitations that result from preoccupation with the surface level of reality, is also free to tap the powers in the field of pure consciousness that would otherwise remain unnoticed and undeveloped—to cultivate the conscious abilities that might ordinary remain undeveloped should an identification with the excessive activity of the surface level of the mind remain. To gain these potential benefits of meditation, by virtue of this reconditioning of the awareness, it is necessary to engage in regular practice—usually on a daily basis. Meditation does not provide all its benefits all at once, but over time, as the practice itself re-conditions the awareness of the meditator more towards the state of pure consciousness. In each daily meditation session, the conscious awareness of the meditator is encouraged, through the use of a certain technique, to free itself from the surface level of the “thinking mind” and instead come into greater contact with the field of pure consciousness. Achieving a state of pure awareness is therefore practiced, on a daily basis. When this is done, the ability to contact the state of pure awareness is present not only during each meditation session, but tends to “carry over” to our entire life experience. Our ability to move into a state of pure awareness during our meditation sessions does not become unavailable when we stop meditating—our ability to contact this state of pure consciousness manifests in, and tends to benefit our overall life. We acquire the ability to contact and act from this deeper awareness at other times, too, instead of being constantly bound by, and identified with, the surface level of the mind. It may also be called upon during times when such awareness and abilities are needed—during the practice of healing, for example. Because meditation brings us into closer connection with the spiritual source of life and health, the regular practice of meditation also tends to refine and enhance the functioning of the body, mind and spirit—to bring greater peace, effectiveness and harmony to all levels of the being. It is a release of identification with, and subsequent gradual quiescence of, this surface mental activity—the developed ability to access the field of pure consciousness underneath the “busy” surface level of the mind— that provides all these benefits. There are many forms of meditation, but to quiet the surface level of the mind such that greater awareness and greater abilities may become manifest is the goal of meditation in all its forms. Although the many different kinds of meditation employ various techniques to work towards this desirable goal, the overall process remains the same. Meditation, in one form, is often practiced with the use of a symbol. In this type of meditation practice, the technique employed to cultivate this greater connection to pure consciousness makes use of the symbol in a particular way, so as to effect this end. In the practice of meditation using a symbol, the awareness of the meditator is focused upon the symbol, instead of remaining identified with the many thoughts and emotions that might otherwise retain importance as the focus of awareness. The symbol provides a prop, a single object which is sensed in an effortless way, instead of the usual jumble of disorganized thoughts and emotions. The sensing of the symbol alone, in this way, assists in the settling of superfluous thoughts and emotions, stabilizing the descent to a level of pure consciousness. This is because the mind no longer feeds off its own activity, from one thought to the next. Stabilizing the awareness upon just the meditation symbol allows the activity of the surface level of the mind, the “thinking mind,” to “wind down,” to decrease in activity, slowly but surely.
The symbol stabilizes and assists in the descent to deeper levels of awareness. As the meditator meditates, the thoughts and emotions that may arise while meditating are recognized to be merely distractions, and are therefore allowed to drop away as the meditator’s awareness comes back effortlessly to the symbol alone. As the meditator continues to meditate on the symbol, the “chatter” of the “thinking mind” winds down more and more, and the meditator settles to deeper and deeper levels of awareness. Although thoughts and emotions continue to arise in the mind as it “winds down,” the meditator does not identify with them, and so, gradually they become fewer and fewer. No particular attention is paid to the thoughts and emotions, they are simply noticed as distractions, as being observed as outside the focus of the meditation (the symbol), and allowed to drop away as the awareness is encouraged to return to just the symbol. The awareness of the meditator may drift from the symbol many times while meditating, especially at first, but by simply and effortlessly coming back to the symbol the practice is slowly but surely refined. Eventually the meditator will become adept at keeping the symbol alone in the awareness, and achieve a quiet mind. The meditator may then begin to have experiences of pure awareness, perhaps for just an instant at first, wherein a sense of perfect unity with the symbol is achieved. It is at this time that the awareness of the meditator may be said to have completely released its identification with the surface level of the mind, and to have begun to contact the state of pure consciousness. At this level of pure consciousness, the meditator, the object of meditation (the symbol), and the process of meditation become one. The symbol is also experienced in its essence, and particular conscious abilities may become available to the meditator—abilities which are contained in, and are part of, the field of pure consciousness, and which may also bear some relationship to the essence and inner power of the symbol. A deep sense of peace and knowing may also be felt.
CHIOS MEDITATION TECHNIQUE The meditation technique you will learn is Chios Meditation, which employs a certain symbol, as well as instruction in the correct way to meditate using this symbol. The symbol used is called the Round Orange-Red Ball, and the correct manner of meditating on this symbol is referred to as visualization. The Round Orange-Red Ball: The symbol used in Chios Meditation is the Round Orange-Red Ball. The Round Orange-Red Ball is not to be thought of as any particular object (in the external world), but an idealized object; that is, a single object in the awareness that is of this particular shape and color. It is an object with the shape of roundness, as one would sense the round surface shape of a ball, and the color of orange-redness, which is halfway between orange and red on the visual spectrum, combined into one single whole object of this sensed shape and color. It is not entirely solid, and is without the solidity of a completely solid object, and yet it is not hollow nor is the surface transparent either. Its round ball shape, and its orange-red color, are the focus of awareness. The Round Orange-Red Ball is not a symbol that has been chosen at random. It is a powerful, effective and complete meditation symbol that will serve for a lifetime of practice. This particular symbol has, inherent within it, the ability to place the meditator in conscious touch with the field of pure awareness, and in such a way as to release powerful abilities. It is an inner discovery and learning, a journey inward. It is an unbiased symbol, as well, and bears no connection to any particular religious or spiritual tradition or belief system. It is a powerful and versatile symbol that has, in addition, some advanced uses that you may encounter later, after learning the basis meditation technique. You may wish to have some idea of the origin of this symbol. It comes from a deeper spiritual awareness of nature and the source of life. It is also very old. The Round Orange-Red Ball is a symbol that corresponds to our Sun, not merely the physical sun but the spiritual Sun. This spiritual Sun represents the life force, and all that is contained in it, in an active and intelligent form—the force that has been instrumental in bringing life to the earth and that surrounds and supports all life on our world, including all of us. The Round Orange-Red Ball corresponds to this solar logos, this higher spiritual reality that makes life on our planet possible, and also has a holographic relationship to the spiritual source within each of us. It is the Sun that lies within each of us and in humanity as a whole. It speaks to a racial memory, a deep racial and historic understanding of this spiritual source of all life. It is part of humanity’s evolution, and is a rich and powerful meditation symbol for many reasons. Do not let your knowledge of the origin of this symbol interfere with your practice of it, however. When meditating on the symbol, do not ascribe any meaning to it; simply let the symbol itself occupy your awareness. The symbol itself connects to all you need to practice meditation powerfully and correctly. You do not need any mental understanding of it or of the process of meditation. Correct Practice of Visualization: The Round Orange-Red Ball, by itself, is not sufficient to engage in effective and pure meditation practice. It is also necessary to meditate upon this symbol in the proper manner. This form of correct practice of Chios Meditation, the proper manner in which the symbol of the Round Orange-Red Ball is held in the awareness, is termed visualization. In Chios Meditation, the Round Orange-Red Ball is visualized, that is, sensed in the awareness in a certain way, and whenever stray thoughts or emotions appear, they are allowed to drop away as the awareness returns just to the Round Orange-Red Ball. To visualize the symbol, in the proper manner necessary for successful practice of this form of meditation, consists of becoming one with the symbol, instead of merely “thinking about” it in some way. This is necessary, so that the symbol may act to quiet the surface level of the “thinking mind,” instead of merely provide an additional surface phenomenon to the operation of the mind. Proper practice of visualization consists of establishing a unity, an identity with the Round Orange-Red Ball, and sensing it with the whole being, not just the mind. It is important to understand that you are not just “thinking about” the symbol, and that meditation is not a mental phenomenon. It is also very important to understand that proper practice of this method requires that the meditator not “pretend to see” the symbol, as would be sensed with ordinary (visual) sensory perception. Like merely “thinking about” the meditation symbol, pretending to see the Round Orange-Red Ball will merely create a surface-level mental state, and not allow for stabilization and descent of the awareness to deeper levels. Both of these forms of incorrect practice have, intrinsic within them, a subject/object distinction, which is the modus operandi of the “thinking mind,” as it thinks within or perceives the ordinary surface level of reality. Becoming one with the symbol, so that the subject/object distinction disappears, is the essence of proper practice of visualization. This is the form of practice which serves to allow the “thinking mind” to wind down, and provide the resulting expansion of awareness that is desirable in meditation practice. It is important to understand that the term “visualization,” as used in this meditation method, is not the same as pretending to see a visual image, as with the physical eyes. It is necessary to let go of the idea of “seeing” as something that is only done with the physical eyes. This is a great step forward. Visualization is done with the mind’s eye. When you are “visualizing,” you are sensing with your entire consciousness, not merely with the mind or one physical sense. This is visualization, and distinctly so. It is a knowledge of the Round Orange-Red Ball which is not dependent on the visual sense. It is focusing the awareness upon the Round Orange-Red Ball using the entire consciousness. It is learning to “visualize” in an altogether new manner. You will acquire a feeling for what this means after some practice. If you find yourself “pretending to see” the symbol, you must release the visual part of your experience. Meditation is usually practiced with eyes closed, yet you could have your eyes open, seeing the objects around you, and still be visualizing the Round Orange-Red Ball. Some also think of this as “putting the symbol in the mind’s eye, or third eye,” as visualization is practiced with the aid of the forehead (third eye) chakra. If you find yourself “thinking about” the Round Orange-Red Ball, you must likewise release yourself from your “thinking mind” as it attempts to grasp it merely through the thinking process. It is not necessary to “think about” the Orange-Red Ball to sense it with the consciousness—all that is required is that you become the Orange-Red Ball, with your entire conscious awareness. Potential Benefits of Chios Meditation: Chios Meditation, when practiced correctly, may give the following benefits:
These abilities are developed over a period of months and years, and will vary from student to student. They may manifest not only while meditating, but in daily life as well. It is a great advantage to develop the habit of engaging in the regular practice of meditation, at a daily time and place of one’s choosing, and persevering in the practice. This is the way that the maximum benefits will be gained. ADVANCED MEDITATION In your learning and practice of Chios Meditation you have probably developed some inner sense of self-awareness—a pure awareness beyond habitual identifications with the thoughts, feelings and perceptions of the surface level of the mind. Meditation is, in the beginning, a journey inward, and provides an inward awareness of self. Your awareness, at the beginning of a meditation practice, often begins to draw inward, and progresses inward. After practicing meditation for some weeks or months, however, you may have also noticed, during your meditations, other moments where your awareness was focused outward, moments where, although you were sitting with eyes closed meditating, you were aware of your existence in the outer universe, perhaps with a sense of the sky or heavens above, of being in the universe. You may not have noticed it with your conscious mind, as yet, but there is a point where the inward awareness reverses itself, instantly, and moves outward, a moment of broadening or expansion. This point is often reached more than once in each day's meditation period. It is an instantaneous reversal in the focus of awareness, and there is often a sense of elation or euphoria at this point where the inward awareness expands. This point is not a point in time or space, but it is a state of being. It is subtle, yet discernible with practice. This precise point of change in awareness is called the point of pure being. This is like a funnel, as if the meditation were a double funnel. The awareness draws inward, funnels inward to a point (inward awareness), and then instantly reverses outward again by passing through a "hole," a pinpoint or very small hole in the universe, and then funnels instantly outward again (outward awareness) into the universe. There is the experience, at this point, of a difference—it is a non-experience of either inward or outward awareness alone. It is an experience of the essence of reality—it is an experience of both inner and outer awareness and also of not either of these by themselves. It is an experience of an existence between two existences.
This point is not an actual location, and the visual illustration given is only to assist in your understanding and awareness of this point, but at this point of pure being, where the focus of meditation is neither inward nor outward, the being of the meditator rests in a condition that transcends both the inner and the outer worlds, the duality of the inner and outward awareness. At this point there is a totality of being, it is a point where the being is pure. At the precise moment of achievement of this point, there is a unity with all creation, a coming to rest in pure consciousness itself. There is an important analogy to this point. Because all particularized objects in manifestation are in some manner a recapitulation of the universal consciousness, we see patterns repeated in the physical and metaphysical worlds. A black hole, in space, is the direct analog of this meditative transition, and its singularity is a physical counterpart to the state of pure being. As in the singularity of a black hole in space, the usual rules of time and space do not apply at the point of pure being. This point, and whatever happens within it, is also beyond the concept of time. At this point, the human spirit, which is inherently unlimited in its nature, can potentially experience all possibilities, without limitation. There is great power at this point. Begin to gain an awareness of this point by incorporating the following exercise into your daily meditation:
Perform this exercise during your daily practice of the meditation, seeking to gain awareness of the point. It is likely you already have some awareness of this point at a deeper level of awareness. After having reached some conscious awareness of the point, it is desirable to gain the ability to slow the transition of awareness through this point, to maintain the awareness at the point of singularity, in the state of pure being itself.
