KATE and Gerry McCann will soon have access to police files covering the search for missing daughter Maddie, it was revealed yesterday.

Portugal’s Attorney-General Fernando Jose Pinto Monteiro said the period of official secrecy in the case ends next month.

He told a newspaper “all the interested parties” can consult the papers in July – although a summer judicial break will delay access until August.

Maddie, four, vanished from the McCanns’ holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in southern Portugal in May 2007.

The couple, who deny involvement, were named “arguidos” – formal suspects – and for months have pressed through lawyers to see the case papers.

Their spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “We’ve heard nothing officially, but if it’s true judicial secrecy has been lifted we welcome it.”

Meanwhile, Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, Leics, met MEPs in Strasbourg yesterday in a fresh bid to get backing for a Europe-wide child abduction alert system.

If you gave a statement to anyone during the course of the investigation into Madeleine’s abduction, we’d be really grateful if you could contact us so that we can follow up every last piece of information.

Our daughter Madeleine was abducted on 3rd May 2007 in Praia da Luz, Portugal, 9 days before her 4th birthday. She was taken from our holiday apartment where she was sleeping with her younger brother and sister whilst we were dining 50 yards away. Despite a massive investigation led by the Portuguese police and supported by the British police, we still do not know who has taken her, why she was taken or where she is. In addition, private investigators based in Spain are now following up any leads regarding Madeleine’s disappearance. (Investigation page)

Since Madeleine’s abduction, we have learned a lot about missing children and child exploitation. The scale of the problem is massive and worldwide. Although finding Madeleine will always remain our priority, we feel it is our duty to highlight these problems as well as areas where legislation can be improved, in order to make the world a little safer for all children. To achieve these aims we are working closely with the International Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Centre for Child Exploitation and Online Protection and other non-governmental agencies throughout Europe (Investigation page). The Find Madeleine Campaign launched a new YouTube channel for missing children in August 2007 called ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’ in conjunction with ICMEC and Google.

The support we have had from around the world has been amazing. We have no doubt that without all the good wishes, prayers and efforts of so many people, our ordeal would have been so much harder. It has helped maintain our strength and hope, and this together with support for the campaign, has helped the search for our precious Madeleine. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their unconditional support and solidarity.

Madeleine is a beautiful little person. She was a very happy and much loved little girl. We believe there is a very good chance that Madeleine is still alive. She deserves the love and security of her family. She needs to be back home with her mummy and daddy, brother and sister.

Please keep Madeleine in your thoughts and prayers. And please – remain vigilant.

It's Saturday night

Well it soon comes around the wk ends how the time is flying by now ,not much happened for me this week I did go to London to deliver a machine went past number ten but I didn’t call as the road was being dug up going into hi street  lol.

I must have seen a thousand people walking around the roads with cameras and on the open top busses funny when you live in the county you have no interest in going site seeing well not much I have only been the once for site seeing but have been on a few okations working it took me about forty min's to get from one end to the other and I went through two circles for the congestion charge sorry they like to call it a fume reduction area but you can call it what you like they still charge to go through .

We in Manchester are going to get the same charge in a few years only our charge will be higher because they are going to update our buses and trams well that’s the excuse they are giving to us another tax that’s all .

I have just got back from taking my wife to her Saturday night at bingo and as I was driving down the road a idiot was doing a one wheel stunt but nearly lost control I almost wish he had as he will probably injure someone one day and it will probably not be him I say him it may well have been a girl but not many barmy girls riding morbikes on one wheel as far as I know.

we have had lots of cameras installed in my area so I wonder will they have picked him up on that he may get a shock yet and a fine on his doorstep for crazy driving hope so.

My old workmate is singing in Salford soon thousands of tickets for sale and for the Salford people a fifty percent discount  that’s because Russell wants it to be for the Salford people mainly because he came from Salford and I worked with him in a Salford factory so he hasn’t forgot his roots one of the last things I said to him when he left was not to forget his roots and by that I meant no matter how many million quid he makes he will still be the same Russell Watson no money can change that and he has kept his word on that he even added a song I asked for on one of his albums a Elvis song so good on ya Russ.or maybe he just liked it and added it who knows.

I called him the voice and he now uses that but I also predicted that he would be in a film well we will have to see about that one so watch this space.

My good old mate Pop Larkin from Salford city radio has been at it again he was with the new Seekers the other day having a chat on his show did you get it no well you missed a good chat with the seekers and pops A picture of him they went out for a meal after the radio show the pictures bellow pops is the one with the tie on but any Seekers fans would know this .I wonder if Russ would go on the radio as it is Salford city radio hmm I may ask his dad see what he says.

Well I had a great father’s day my eldest son came round with my desktops PC all fixed with more memory and a bigger processor and included in that was windows vista ultimate wow that would have cost me but he has bought licences for windows as he makes  computers and sells them .

He bought me a couple of very nice shirts so they will do nicely for my hols coming up shortly his wife didn’t come as she is having probs with her heart murmurs hope they find out that it's not to serious soon. at the moment she is having to wear something on her wrist and when the murmur happens it records it she then rings the hospital and sends the message down the line for the doctor to look at good init. so hope all ends well with that.

My daughter took Sheila and myself out to a hotel local one where my daughter works we had a very nice meal I really enjoyed the day so I am looking forward to Mothers day lol well Sheila came to father’s day meal  lol.

We met our daughters boss a really nice bloke she gets on really well with him and he thinks a lot of her she is the senior house made but has just been appointed the second managers job so go on her all that hard work paid off at last.

My youngest son and wife left me a bag on the door with a few pair of socks and a model aircraft wow not had one since I was a little boy they like to give things that are a little different so I guess I have done well they tried to let me know they were visiting but I cant hear to well and when I am on my pc I  dont notice anything going on around me  lol so sorry Jason and Marie

well I just noticed the time I have to pick Sheila up from bingo so I guess I have to say by for now so until nexed time be good what goes around does come around .

I know my daughter has already remembered because she has booked a table at a hotel where she works for a meal for Sheila and myself so thanks for that Dinky that's my daughter we all call her dinky cos she is small .

good news for my daughter she has been made a manager where she works not surprised because she works very hard and does jobs she shouldn't be doing and works over her time in the days so good on ya Paula.

someone has asked me if I know how to stop fishing on there PC well I have put security things on here in the past lots of free things to be had if you look in the scroll bar on my blog that says mike's entertainment corner you will see some a good firewall is a must and when you have put a good firewall on and anti spyware on you can add google toolbar with anti fishing on so no excuses for not doing anything for your security on your PC .

If you don't do these things you can pass allsorts onto another person who hasn't installed things as well so it will go on and on so do it now.

Well I am feeling ok today and yesterday to I went to the doctors with a bad ear infection and a rash to my back and arms the hospital say I have exma but it's not a usual thing to get at my time of life the doctor said as it usually comes from a very early age  but that's me I don't like to be missed out  lol I am on   antibiotics for my ears so sore and swollen inside that some days I cant even put my hearing aids in yes im deaf as well greedy aren't I the antibiotics are working well as the swelling has gone and my ears aren't as sore so good one doctor as for the xma well im itching like mad but the rash is almost gone so another good one for doc I seem to be going to the hospital all the time now with all sorts going wrong but hey a lot more worse off people than me so shut  up mike and get on with it I do have some good news my blood pressure is now normal and I have stopped taking the pills for that just as well my last prescription cost £30 pounds and that was without three lots of pills I had been taking for my blood pressure it would have been another £24  if I had to get the lot cart afford to be any more ill for the time being  lol

well not sure what Sheila and I am doing today apart from going for our fathers day meal probably do a bit of shopping we have to eat cant not do that then Sheila will probably want to buy me something big for Fathers day  lol I don't think so . 

well I think that's about it cant think of anything else to moan about so all the best to everyone and see ya later.

King George VI becomes the first British monarch to visit the United States when he and his wife, Elizabeth, cross the Canadian-U.S. border to Niagara Falls, New York. The royal couple subsequently visited New York City and Washington, D.C., where they called for a greater U.S. role in resolving the crisis in Europe. On June 12, they returned to Canada, where they embarked on their voyage home.

George, who studied at Dartmouth Naval College and served in World War I, ascended to the throne after his elder brother, King Edward VIII, abdicated on December 11, 1936. Edward, who was the first English monarch to voluntarily relinquish the English throne, agreed to give up his title in the face of widespread criticism of his desire to marry Wallis Warfield Simpson, an American divorcee.

During World War II, King George worked to keep up British morale by visiting bombed areas and touring war zones. George and Elizabeth also remained in bomb-damaged Buckingham Palace during the war, shunning the relative safety of the countryside, and George made a series of important morale-boosting radio broadcasts, for which he overcame a speech impediment.

After the war, the royal family visited South Africa, but a planned tour of Australia and New Zealand had to be postponed indefinitely when the king fell ill in 1949. Fathers Day

As we all know Fathers day is nearly upon us and as I have just visited our space friend Walter I think this poem that Walter has written  is a nice piece to put in for my late father I can only hope that my Father knew how I felt about him and maybe he is  looking over me now as I put this poem here for him but it's not to late for anyone out there to show how they feel about there parents now while you still can don't wait until it's to late think about it now not just for Fathers day or Mothers day but for all time you only get one shot at this so make sure you leave your mark on there minds and let them know  now and hey not just parents what about brothers and sisters and maybe your kids and I  am sure you all have a friend who you would like to say something to so to all my family and friends I hope you all have a lovely week end .

My dear dad, you are so easy to talk too

So when ever I have troubles, I come to you

The advice that you give me, I know it is sound

I am so thankful dad, because you never let me down
